Reading tips from Malorie Blackman

Malorie spoke to a group of 35 emerging writers at the Writer’s Workshop recently in Brixton and was inspirational and informative on the importance of getting the plotting of books right.  She gave robust and practical advice and during her fantastic talk mentioned quite a few books that had helped her and from which she learnt a lot.

If you would like to find out more then this is the reading list and I am already on the search for the books.  If they are are good enough for Malorie Blackman then I want to know what they have to offer.

The Craft of Novel Writing – Dianne Doubtfire
Story – Robert Mckee
The Creative Writing Coursebook – Julia Bell and Paul Magrs
Writing for Children – Linda Strachen
Taking Reality by Surprise:  Writing for Pleasure and Publication – Susan Sellers
